Stephen V. Grasso, Principal

steve_smStephen is a second generation architect and was born on June 14, 1966 in the Bronx, New York. Having a strong passion to understand the environment in order to consciously intervene in it, he studied Environmental Design at the University at Buffalo and went on to study Architecture at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.

Upon completing his studies, Stephen began his career at his father's NYC firm. In 1994 Stephen moved on to Helpern Architects where he completed noted projects such as the Soho Grand Hotel and the environmentally conscious, Congo Gorilla Forest and Education Center at the Bronx Zoo.

In 1997 Stephen took a sabbatical from his position and he, his wife Lorraine and 8 month old son Marco picked up roots and went to live in Florence, Italy in order to live in a society outside the United States and obtain a better perspective of the world we live in.

Stephen and his family returned from Italy in 1998 and Stephen left his previous position in NYC and took a position as Project Architect for a 500,000 SF corporate headquarters in Norwalk, Connecticut. In 1999, Stephen began the process of forming a new firm which would be dedicated to architecture and the environment, Partners for Architecture.

Stephen is married to Lorraine who is from Dublin, Ireland. Their two children Marco and Cara are twelve and eight years old respectively. They reside in Stamford, Connecticut. Outside of his work at Partners for Architecture, Stephen also organizes a hockey team as well as a softball team for Architectural and Engineering firms in the city of Stamford. In between that he takes most pride in organizing a charity memorial golf tournament in Canada to Benefit the Big Brother Big Sister organization in the name of a dear friend, Scott Rafferty.

Stephen currently is the Chairman for the Mayor’s Energy Task Force, Sustainable Stamford [sustainablestamford.org] for the City of Stamford and sits on the Environmental Business Committee of Soundwaters.

Stephen has a passion for cooking, music, carpentry, philosophy and traveling.

Stephen is N.C.A.R.B. certified and licensed as an Architect in CT, NY, NJ, FL, GA and PA.
