Since opening it’s doors in 2004, the Bronx Lighthouse Academy has flourished as an academic facility and is now expanding to include a high school adjacent to the existing
elementary school.
Working with budget and time constraints, PFA partnered with Kullman Industries (an off-site construction company in New Jersey) to run permitting, pre and site construction on parallel tracks. This approach cut the project time in half compared to a standard design-bid-build track. Our firm also streamlined the typically intensive shop drawing coordination phase by using BIM software.
The building and site layout were designed with great care to achieve an “as-of-right” project avoiding time-delaying variances. The new building features a full gym, a library/media center, art, music & science classrooms, and exterior learning terraces serving the entire school.
