PFA’s second project for the South Bronx Charter School organization is a new, combined middle school and high school that will total over 80,000 SF. Located in a highly-visible location, this new school will contain a full-sized 600-seat Theater with Mezzanine Gallery, to serve as a beacon for this rapidly-changing neighborhood. Reflecting the school’s ambition to become a leading arts institution, the school will include arts studios, dance studios, and rehearsal rooms, along with a recording studio. Core curricula are supported with 24 classrooms plus science and robotics rooms, a rooftop greenhouse, and a full-sized gymnasium. The school’s exterior follows the broad curve of its corner location, and repeats the curve as a motif on the façade with windows creating a series of reveals into the life of the school.
